Amaechi sacks commissioner, appoints six perm secs

RIVERS State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, has sacked the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Wogu, due to the failure of the state fire service to extinguish an inferno that gutted ten shops and five residential buildings in Diobu, Port Harcourt on New Year’s day.
The governor expressed regrets that after the release of about N20 million to the Commissioner to fix some of the fire service vehicles, the state’s firemen could not respond to distress calls to extinguish a raging fire less than one kilometre because of lack of operational vehicles.
Governor Amaechi has meanwhile announced Omunakwe Dickson as a Worgu’s replacement.
According to him, Dickson’s name will be sent to the Rivers State House of Assembly for confirmation.
The governor has also sworn in six new female Permanent Secretaries at the Government House, Port Harcourt Wednesday.
Those sworn-in are Dr. Offor Nnesochi, Mrs. Iragunima C. M., Clara Gogo Princewill, Mrs. Amie Nemi Iwo, Mrs. Wihioka Comfort and Dr. Justina Jumbo.
