An upcoming musician, Damilola Olaniyan, also known as Damino
Damouche was on Thursday shot dead at the gate of the Lagos
State University by suspected cultists who reportedly came on a motor
cycle. The artiste was shot twice in the head and once on the left hand shortly after he finished writing a test.
He was until his death a 400 Level student of the Banking Finance Department and his claim to fame on campus was his song Spend Money. Street Journal’s findings revealed that he was registered in the university with the matriculation number 0908012117.
There were insinuations that he belonged to a cult group on campus
and that he was murdered by members of a rival cult group. Observers
have become apprehensive that LASU seems to be gradually slipping back
into the bloody days of the 1990s when cult groups operated freely in
broad daylight without reverence for law and order. The many murders
around that time prompted the authorities of the institution to place
billboards with the message “LASU is not an abattoir” all over the
premises.
