The attack also left his son with injuries sustained from stray bullets.
According to an eyewitness, Abdu Ibrahim, the gunmen trailed the 45-year-old man to his house and demanded for him, before he was shot in the head and chest.
Ibrahim also told newsmen that Jella had earlier been issued a threat letter to relocate from the area, as he was allegedly accused of providing information on the hideouts and activities of the sect in Maiduguri.
The deceased, he said, however discountenanced the threat letter. Jella’s killing came two days after the Joint Task Force (JTF) and the police foiled an attack on Ibrahim Taiwo Division Police Station in which a trader was also killed and over 40 tricycles and vehicles were destroyed.
